Difference between village life and city life

Village life vs city life :

When it comes to human settlements, the preferences of individuals vary largely. It is sometimes hard for certain people to decide what form of life they desire for themselves and hence, many would be perplexed in between city life which would place them closer to all more facilities, services and entertainment and village life which would place them closer to nature and relaxation. However, the choices that they make shall depend upon the different sorts of human-created structures and services that are meant for residential, business and other purposes that are needed for the daily functioning of human lives.

What is village life?

Village life usually refers to the kind of lifestyle that a person living in a village or a hamlets would experience in an environment where development and technology has not yet been felt to a great extent. Rural areas and its population basically depend upon agriculture and natural resources as a living and the living conditions in such areas cannot be termed as excessively comfortable. The facilities in these areas are pretty much basic, answering only to the very basic needs of human beings. However, village life would be placed much closer to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial city and therefore, village life would be the ideal form of life for persons who prefer some peace, quiet and relaxation.

What is city life?
City life is the kind of life that people living in town and city areas would experience in an environment where development may have reached a quite significant stage. Cities have been established as a consequence of urbanization and as a result, cities are well planned and structured in order to provide more room for more residential space. The main focus of cities is its many improved social facilities such as transport, business prospects, educational facilities and social interaction which pave the way for better standards of living. A city benefits largely from the advancements of development. In fact, the lives and occupations of the urban population depend upon it. Cities are usually classified according to the density of population and also the use of land. In certain countries such as Australia, in order for a certain area to be termed as a city, it requires to have at least a thousand residents with more than two hundred people per square kilometer while two cities less than two kilometers in between are considered one urban zone.

What is the difference between city life and village life?

Many differences exist between village life and city life. For starters, city life refers to the kind of lifestyle that the people living in a well populated town or a city would experience whereas village life refers to the kind of lifestyle that is led in village areas or hamlets that benefit from a lesser amount of population. Another difference between the two is that city life depends very much on social facilities such as business prospects, transportation, education facilities and etc whereas village life is mainly dependant on natural resources and agriculture as a form of living.

Development is in its full swing in cities and technology is at its best within these premises as well. And yet, villages have not yet seen the likes of development much and are quite under developed with regards to technology. Therefore, one can expect city life to be quite easy and yet so complicated what with all the equipment and services around whereas village life would require hard physical labor but life would be simple and uncomplicated there. While the lifestyle in urban areas is of a higher standard, village life will most undoubtedly suffer from the lack of facilities as villages harbor only very basic facilities which may not even be sufficient to fulfill the most basic of all human needs.

With regards to education, the city crowd tends to be more educated or education oriented than the village population. The reason for this is that the education facilities in cities are much more developed than the educational facilities in villages and it is essential that one has a good education in order to gain a good employment in the city. And yet, people living in villages may not be that interested in education, as agriculture being the main occupation of its people, one needs not have high levels of education or sophistication to engage in such activities. However, people living in villages send their children to the cities with the hope of giving them a good education and the chance of finding themselves a respected occupation.

Village life is rich in culture and nature whereas city life is rather busy in terms of lifestyle. The reason for this is that people living in cities may not have sufficient time for engaging in cultural and other leisure activities while those of who live in villages have plenty of time in their hands. Because of this reason, people living in the city may seem quite rude, selfish and preoccupied whereas people living in villages tend to be rather friendly and helpful. Another factor that differentiates the two is that while cities may be excessively exposed to pollution, there is no or minimum amount of pollution existing in villages because of which, village life is always preferred by many once they have reached retirement and feel the desire to spend some time away for health reasons.

Summary

  • Urban areas are much populated than rural areas.

  • Urban areas have better facilities than rural areas and thereby, living conditions of urban areas are much better than those of rural areas.
