Shaving cream vs shaving gel:
Shaving is an act that is performed on everyday basis and therefore, many products have been introduced in to the market in order to make this process as easy and hassle free as possible for the individual. While shaving is a vital day to day activity to many, it is essential that one uses an effective and a skin friendly substance during this process. One’s choice of shaving cream or gel is a matter of personal preference. While they both seem to be providing the same purpose of aiding an individual to shave, there are certain components which pertain to each of these substances which deserve our attention.
What is shaving cream?
Shaving cream is a foam like substance that is applied on the area that needs shaving, prior to applying the razor. It is intended to make the experience of shaving easier and more comfortable for its users.
What is shaving gel?
Shaving gel is a gel like substance which is often transparent that is applied on the area that needs shaving prior to applying the razor. The purpose of a shaving gel is making the experience of shaving much more comfortable for the user as well as caring for the skin on which shaving is performed.
What is the difference between shaving gel and shaving cream?
It is true that both shaving gel and shaving cream are designed to make the experience of shaving easier and more comfortable for individuals. However, these two products are manufactured in different forms for a very good reason. The reason is that while shaving gel is preferred by certain individuals, shaving cream is still the preferred ointment of others to be applied on the skin during shaving.
Shaving cream does not create foam as it already exists in the form of foam. Shaving gel however, creates a rather generous lather when it is agitated in the hands. This results in shaving gel being more efficient than shaving cream. Large amounts of shaving cream needs to be used in order to achieve the desired effect and yet, only a small amount of shaving gel is needed to accomplish the act of shaving more efficiently. Therefore, one can say that shaving gel is the more economic product to use as it covers more shaving surface with a slight amount of the product applied.
However, shaving gel has a tendency to clog the razor when shaving, thus requiring the razor to be thoroughly washed through in between shaves. And yet, shaving cream is hardly known to clog the razor as it is rather foamy in nature and is quick to evaporate. However, with shaving gel, shaving is done rather quickly. Using shaving cream consumes more time as applying and reapplying the cream may be rather cumbersome to many.
Shaving gel is more expensive than shaving cream because of the fact that it is more effective. Shaving cream on the other hand, forms a part of the common man’s shaving kit. Shaving gel is available in many styles and fragrances in the market and it is quite stylish in its appearance as well. Shaving cream however, does not show much extravagance in its presence.
Shaving cream is considered as much safer to the skin as it is not known to contain any harsh chemicals whereas shaving gel is known to possess such harmful substances. Furthermore, no oils are utilized in the making of shaving creams whereas when making shaving gels, plenty of oils are utilized. Therefore, the choice between shaving gel and shaving cream relies solely in a person’s hands and a person must take in to consideration all the above factors when deciding between a shaving cream and a shaving gel.
