Difference between oil and gas
Oil vs gas:
Fuel has become an integral part of the life of a human in the modern world today as it plays an important role in the household as well in the outside world as a means of cooking, cleaning, providing energy on which vehicles function and etc and therefore, the necessity of fuel has become augmented with the advancement of the technology that the society witnesses each day. Oil and gas are two such types which have become common household names in terms of their usage.
What is oil?
Oil can be defined as a hydrocarbon mixture which remains liquid at room temperature and possesses a high density with a low rate of diffusion. Oil comes in many forms such as rock oil, mineral oil and crude oil and while some oils are found naturally, some are processed by human hands. It is a flammable substance that is not soluble in water and tends to produce harmful gases when burnt.
What is gas?
Gas is a mixture of gas which is derived from the fossilized remains which are found buried deep in the Earth. Gas is known to have very low density and viscosity and is utilized with the aid of pressure and temperature in many purposes such as heating, cooking, producing electricity and even for drying cloths. Gas is considered as a fuel form that is environment friendly. This is because of the fact that while gas produces clean light and heat which is more powerful than any other sort of fuel available, it does not emit any sort of harmful gas.
What is the difference between gas and oil?
Gas and oil are both non-renewable energy forms which are used for similar purposes in life as sources of lighting, heat and also for cooking purposes. However, the two substances differ greatly in their composition. Oils are known to be a hydrocarbon mixture which is available in rock oil, mineral oil and crude oil forms. And yet, gas is derived from fossil remains which are found in earth and is available in air form.
Oil is rather heavy and because of this factor, it is not soluble in water as well. Yet gas has a very low density and exists in air form. Therefore, oil remains liquid in room temperature whereas gas remains as air. Both gas and oil are used for cooking purposes, heating, providing light and as a fuel source as well. And yet, while oil produces residual fuel which tends to have rather undesirable properties which are not much of use either, gas does not cause such a reaction. Because of this, the use of gas has today reduced the consumption of oil in the world.
Another factor contributing towards the popularity of the fuels is that natural gas is much cheaper than oil which tends to be rather expensive. Also, oil when burnt, produces harmful gases which cause environmental pollution. And yet gas, which burns brighter and gives off more heat than oil or any other fuel on the market, does not pose such threats to the environment. Therefore, one can say that gas is more environment friendly than oil as well,
