Difference between ale and pale ale

It is most definitely an unquestionable fact that beer remains even for today one of the most popular beverages all over the world. Beers are many and they vary in tastes, methods of preparation, ingredients, etc. ale and pale ale are merely two species of beer which make up this large family of brewed malt more interesting.
What is ale?
Ale can be described as a type of beer which is derived from malted barley by use of a warm fermentation method. It typically has a bittering agent that is used as a balancing agent that will counteract with the sweetness of the malt while it also acts as a preservative. Originally, ale was given this bitterness with a mixture of herbs and spices called gruit which was later on replaced by hops, whiiich is a female flower cluster which is now being used as a common flavoring ingredient in beer. Some popular types of ale are IPA’s, Hefeweizens, scotch ales etc
Despite the bittering process, ale is known for its sweet and fruity flavors. Ale and bread were popular sources of nutrition in the medieval world. Brewing of ale is traditionally done in the caves of Germany which are quite cold during the winter season. Some of the popular forms of ale are Brown, scotch, mild, old, Belgian and also the pale ale.
What is pale ale?
Pale ale derives its name because of its pale color which is due to the pale malts which are utilised in the producing of pale ale. In the 1600’s coke has been used for drying malt and thetrem pale ale was introduced in 1703 for the kind of pale colored ale which was made with this malt.
While the preparation of pale ale is quite the same as other kinds of ale and yet, different kinds of pale ale exist. Some popular brands can be listed as Amber ale, American Pale Ale, Bière de Garde, Blonde, Burton Pale Ale, English Bitter, Irish Red ale, India Pale Ale, etc.
What is the difference between pale ale and ale?
Ale is more or less a much general sort of term that is in use for all kinds of ales which are available all over the world. Pale ale which was thus baptized because of its pale color only makes a part of it along with a whole collection of other ales which makes up the ale family.
The brewing process of all ales remain the same and yet, the pale ale uses a type of malt that has been dried with coke which gives it its pale color. Also, ale exited from as long as the middle ages whereas the pale ale was only introduced in 1703, which makes it a more recent addition to the family.
Also, pale ale is much lighter in color which rates at 8-14 degrees Standard Reference Method (SRM), a color gauging system which defines beers. Yet, ale is much higher up the scale.
