Advice can simply be described as a noun. It is a guidance or a recommendation concerning prudent future action, typically given by someone regarded as knowledgeable or authoritative. It can also be communication, especially from a distance, containing information regarding something that needs to be done or completed. One often asks for advice. Another type of advice can be a sort of a crucial information or a notice given in the best interest of the person receiving it. For example
My father gives good advice.
He always listens to my advice.
The advice that his teacher gave that day regarding not talking to strangers, saved him from a kidnapper.
I asked my brother for advice but he was as confused as I was regarding the matter.
What is advise?
Advise is a verb. It is best described as giving guidance or a recommendation concerning prudent future action by someone regarded as knowledgeable or authoritative as opposed to be at the receiving end of advice. Advising someone can also be giving out information or notice to someone or offering someone long distance communication with regards to something that needs to be done.
I strongly advise you to keep away from that door.
As he approached the window, he could hear his father advising his mother not to let him out of the house.
The principal advised the students to obey the school rules.
The psychiatrist advised his patient to take a long vacation and to take his medication daily. He also advised her to stay away from stressful situations.
Difference between advice and advise
Advice and advise is very difficult to tell apart when written and impossible to distinguish in speech, due to its similar spellings and identical pronunciation. Despite the blatant similarities between these two words, there is a very significant difference. Advice is a noun whereas advise is a verb. When one advises, he offers advice. For example
His father advised him to take his mother’s advice more seriously.
Her grandmother advised her to carefully listen to the employer’s advice before she finishes up a task.
The union leader advised him not to heed the employer’s advice.
Therefore, the only difference between these two words apart from the fact that the spellings are slightly different is that advice is a noun and advise is a verb.
