What is the difference between media and advertising?
While advertising and media are often discussed in the same plain and often go hand in hand, these are two different components which function in their own way. While advertising can be defined as the manner in which an advertiser strives to publicize or advertise his or her goods or products among a chosen audience, media is often the form of communication that is used to put it across to the target audience. Advertising is a process in which certain methods and strategies are planned in order to publicize a certain product or a service while it is through media such as electronic media, social media or printed media that one often carries it across.
Advertising is an ensemble of strategies while media is an ensemble of mediums. While both functions operate on the same level of communication, advertising cannot function without the help of the media which is the vehicle or the ferry that carries advertising across the river to civilization. Not only in carrying the message across, media such as digital media and printing media also contribute towards the producing of advertising which can be in the form of a poster, a video, a newspaper advertisement, etc. and often media earns from advertisers as they charge a certain fee in order to carry out the advertising procedure.
