Difference between abs and six pack

abs and six pack:

While the terms abs and six pack are constantly used words in any fitness fanatic’s vocabulary, for most of the people out there, these two words either probably do not mean much or they assume them to be one and the same. Yet, a toned stomach with no embarrassing flabby bits is undoubtedly anybody’s dream. Therefore, while the terms abs and six pack are of equal importance to everybody out there, this article seeks to distinguish the difference between the two terms at the same time, giving a brief introduction of the two terms for the benefit of those who wish to know so.

What are abs?
The abs or the abdominal muscles can be defined as the part of the body between the thorax and pelvis of the body. Underneath the skin layer here exists the abdominal cavity where most of the absorption and digestion of food occurs.

The abdominal muscles are of extreme importance to the body. While they provide movement and support to the trunk they also aid the body in the breathing process at the same time, serving as protection for the inner organs. The most important function that it serves for the fitness enthusiasts is that they are of extreme importance in defining the form of the body.

What are six packs?
The six pack can be more technically defined as a well defined rectus abdominis muscle, thus given its shape by constant exercise and training. This is generally a paired muscle which runs vertically on each side of the anterior wall of the human abdomen and is usually crossed by three fibrous bands linked by the tendinous intersections which make up the six pack.

What is the difference between abs and six pack?
While every human being is in possession of abs, or abdominal muscles, it takes quite a lot of work to get the six pack visible in one’s abdomen. While everybody has three fibrous bands linked by the tendinous intersections underneath the layer of fat which covers the top part of the abdomen muscles, one should work at dissolving that layer of fat in order to make the six pack visible.

While it is possible to be in possession of well toned abdominal muscles, special exercises are needed in order to burn the fat layer that covers up the intersections which make up the six pack. Therefore one can say that while abs refer to the abdominal muscles which every human being owns, six packs refer to the protruding and intersected set of muscles which exists over well toned abs.

Summary

  • The abs or the abdominal muscles can be defined as the part of the body between the thorax and pelvis of the body.
  • The six pack can be more technically defined as a well defined rectus abdominis muscle.
  • Every human being possesses abs. yet, six packs can only be achieved through exercise.
  • It is possible to posses well toned abdominal muscles. But in order to view the intersected muscles underneath, the fat layer on top of them must be burnt.
