Difference between ABEC 5 and ABEC 7
ABEC 5 vs ABEC 7:
ABEC which stands for the Annular Bearing Engineers Committee which is an industry accepted standard for the tolerances of a ball bearing developed by the Annual Engineers Committee of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association. There are five tolerances such as 1,3,5,7 and 9 of which a higher amount conveys a better precision, speed and efficiency which does not however, assure faster spinning of the components.

ABEC 7 bearings are usually used for racing, aircraft instruments or surgical equipment and automobiles as under a normal weight, it would seem as it does not have any friction at all. ABEC 7 is known to offer very high RPM and smooth operation because of its higher rating at the same time it is more costly than the rest. ABEC 7 would be classified as class 4 in the ISO 492 rating system whereas the maximum eccentricity of the track in the inner ring in an ABEC 7 would be 0.0025mm (0.000098″).
What is the difference between ABEC 5 and ABEC 7?
ABEC 5 is of a lower ABEC rating than an ABEC 7 and therefore, ABEC 5 is bound to be cheaper. Yet in terms of speed, smoothness and efficiency, an ABEC 7 makes it seem like there is no friction at all when an ABEC 5 would bear a significant amount of resistance. Also, an ABEC 5 would be used in the manufacturing and upgrading of skateboards and other instruments which require a lower ABEC rating whereas ABEC 7 is used for racing and the manufacturing of more delicately operating instruments which require ultra smoothness, precision and accuracy such as aircraft instruments or surgical equipment.
An ABEC 5 would be classified as the class 5 in the ISO 492 rating system whereas an ABEC 7 would be classified as class 4. Also, the maximum eccentricity of the track in the inner ring in ABEC 5 would be 0.0035mm (0.000138″) whereas in an ABEC 7, it would be 0.0025mm (0.000098″).
